Cape Coral is a gorgeous city on the Florida Gulf Coast, bursting with relaxing amenities and thrilling adventures. Famous for its 400 miles of canals -- the most of any city in the world, including Venice -- maps of Cape Coral can make it look like a maze, one best-navigated by boat rather than by car. By staying in a vacation home in Cape Coral, you can experience canal life for yourself. Here are some of the things you can look forward to during your visit to Cape Coral:
This is an easy, 1.2 mile shady, hike on a boardwalk through classic Florida landscapes. You quickly come upon marshes and mangroves. Birds are all around. Benches and overlooks are located along the trail. Kayak rentals are available should you desire to venture into the twists and turns of the mangrove tunnels and view nature from water level. The park offers fishing at the platform on the Caloosahatchee River. A visitor's center is at the beginning of the trail to assist you with planning your adventure here. This location is wonderful due to it's easy access from anywhere in Cape Coral. If you want to get out in nature, but not spend the entire day doing it, this is your one-stop shop!
Looking for a rustic island experience? You will find it on Cayo Costa. This rural barrier island is only accessible by private boat or ferry and offers nine miles of natural beaches. Pack a picnic and be ready to relax under the oaks, or follow a nature trail through mangrove swamps. Pods of dolphins and manatees are often spotted from this amazing location. Fishing is welcomed from shore or from your boat. Off-road biking is a great way to explore the 2,426 acre island park. Ferry services are available to Cayo Costa from Punta Gorda, Pine Island, Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva Islands - all close by.
