TurnKey Vacation Rentals Rolls Out New Home Cleaning Innovations in Response to COVID-19

Our GuestWorks® cleaning system and technology elevates home cleanliness standards with new verification, education and a 24-hr buffer between stays

 

TurnKey Vacation Rentals, the technology-enabled vacation rental management company for more than 5,000 U.S. homes, announced today enhancements to its patented GuestWorks® cleaning system and verification technology, including confirmation and photo-verification of the use of COVID-19 fighting products. To further elevate cleanliness and safety standards, TurnKey will also develop a certification program in its system, technology and new standards, which all housekeeping vendors will be required to take to obtain the certification.

“The emergence of COVID-19 presented new challenges for vacation rental cleanliness, but we built our technology platform to quickly update and enhance cleaning standards at scale,” said TurnKey Co-founder and CEO John Banczak. “Today more than ever, the wellbeing of our homeowners, guests, vendors, employees and communities remains our highest priority. It is vitally important that they understand the standards we set to ensure their safety and the cleanliness of our homes.”

All TurnKey properties are equipped with its patented GuestWorks cleaning system and verification technology, including its proprietary housekeeping scheduler, keyless locks, in-home tablet, housekeeping app and custom cleaning checklists. Prior to COVID-19, TurnKey’s system had already eliminated the need for person-to-person contact during a home clean by issuing housekeepers time-sensitive, digital access codes for the home.

The GuestWorks system requires professional housekeepers to follow a stringent set of cleaning standards, customized for each home and available on the TurnKey Housekeeping App. In response to COVID-19, TurnKey rolled out enhancements to the system, including updated checklists with more rigorous requirements for cleaning high-traffic areas and high-touch surfaces like doorknobs, handles and light switches. In the app, housekeepers are now required to confirm and photo-validate their use of qualified COVID-19 fighting products, as identified by the American Chemistry Council’s Center for Biocide Chemistries.

TurnKey will also leverage its scheduling technology to require a 24-hour buffer between all guest stays at TurnKey properties for new bookings for May and June 2020, with the ability to extend this time frame as needed. During that 24-hour time period, only housekeeping and home inspections by TurnKey staff will be allowed.

Training and Certification to Advance Cleanliness Standards

TurnKey features vacation homes across more than 80 U.S. destinations, maintaining a large network of the top housekeeping vendors in each location. With an aim toward elevating both the consistency of home cleans and adherence to new standards for cleanliness and safety, TurnKey is developing a training and certification program for the GuestWorks system and technology. When launched in May 2020, all housekeeping vendors will be required to complete the program in order to obtain the certification.
